Puerto de Mogán is a charming fishing village and holiday resort on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria.
It’s a vacation spot where you are sure to find a quality experience removed from the hustle and bustle of some other resorts.
It has been given the nickname Little Venice because of its canals and bridges spanning its seawater inlet.
Its Mediterranean aura is further enhanced by the quaint buildings to be found in the old town which climbs the hillside.
Puerto de Mogán is sheltered from the trade winds, allowing it to enjoy 340 days of sunshine per year complemented by a soft ocean breeze.
The monthly average temperature is not less than 22ºC and rain is a rarity.
The beach here is a stretch of golden sand, and the clear ocean around the breakwater is calm and a great place for snorkeling.
The endlessly fascinating underwater world can also be explored by taking a trip in a yellow submarine. If deep sea fishing is your sport, you can try your skill at catching world-record-sized marlins or tunas.
Along with the local fishing boats, you may well see classic ocean yachts in the marina as Puerto de Mogán is a major stop between the Atlantic and the Caribbean.
The marina has just over 200 berths, of which half are available to summer visitors and 20% to visitors in the busier winter season.
Approximately 1-1/2 km to the east of Puerto de Mogán is Taurito which boasts a scenic beach surrounded by stunning cliffs.
It has an attractive and expansive lido area and a mini aqua park with a palm-tree-dotted island complete with bridges and bars.
If you choose to stay in Taurito, you will need to travel to Puerto de Mogán to take one of our boat tours.
